Nationwide, only 68% of students with disabilities are included in general education classrooms at least 80% of the school day. Washington sits at just 63%.
Research has categorically demonstrated that students served in inclusive setting have access to a more rigorous education, resulting in improved post- secondary outcomes. Our work will help create more equitable and accessible pathways to post- high-school success for all students.
EDUCATOR SUPPORT AT SCALE
In 2023, the TMC expanded programming to extend our impact on educators across the state and the nation.
In partnership with Capital Region ESD 113, we facilitated two professional development series providing foundational skills and resources to 30 novice special educators across the state.
The Modern Classrooms Project brings to educators across the country an innovative
instructional model that empowers every
student — regardless of background, ability, or attendance — to master key content and skills. The TMC was honored by the invitation to present a webinar entitled No More Status Quo: Tips for Transforming Teaching to Support All Learners which reached over 500 US educators.
SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP FOR CHANGE
We bring job-embedded, real-time, ongoing, and individualized professional development around inclusive practices to educators in schools and districts across the state.
Over 40% of our SY 23-24 clients have expressed interest in deepening our inclusive practices and special education work with their staff in the current school year.
Initial workshop engagement with a new client yielded feedback as seen below. Work with this rural district has resulted in a contract extension to nearly three times our initial scope of work.
